it was published over about 5 months in 2024 (so it's complete obvs, i don't read WIPs sorry not sorry), is 21 chapters, and just over 195K words! so a nice sized fic that i'm about to devour like a starving man, tysm.

i am and have truly been looking forward to this fic ever since someone on reddit said they have never seen draco simp and pine and be stupid for hermione harder than he ever has in this fic. i think they said she slaps him in public and then he is just like, "omg she fucking touched me!!!!!!!! *nuts*" like... LMAO yes bitch. yes pls! and then that possessive draco tag is staring at me like 👀😈 and i'm staring back like 👁👄👁💖

this will be my FIRST EVER marriage law fic and i am so happy that it is this one. i can't wait to see what happenssssss. i have tried to avert my eyes from the hype, summaries, think pieces and such because i'm not trying to set myself up or know too much or be disappointed or go off anyone else's interpretation, i just want to let the fic take me where it's gonna take me!!!! i want to scream, cry, giggle, pine, laugh, throw up, feel the feels, etc. my body is ready!!! *rubs hands together vigorously*

DOWN BAD CRYING AT THE GYM

Oh hey, didn’t see you there! Nbd, just reeling from the intense chemical changes that reading @molivierposts’ masterpiece has wrought upon my feeble flesh-prison.

I made a little sketch to cope - just something sloppy, real casual-like. Then I coloured it (to be polite, you understand). And then I thought I’d just take a minute to slap together a couple of kindle covers for myself. Which, uhhh… yeah, I’m gonna go ahead and say you’re welcome to download for personal use. Go for it, champ.

I may do a re-colour of this at some point, actually refine it. But I’m happy for now with the rough and ready version you see before you. Also, saying I’ll recolour something is just actually like a cute little inside joke I have with myself. The joke is: no I fucking won’t.

The Bolt, Chapter 2

Pansy presses her lips against his, slowly, sweetly. The tip of her tongue probes his mouth.

Then — suddenly — an image comes to him, so vivid that for a moment he’s not sure where he is: Hermione in the library, her figure illuminated by a large, arched window. She’s bent over a piece of parchment, writing something, strands of her hair catching golden in the light. He’s close enough to see the peach fuzz of her cheeks, the slight knot between her eyebrows, the small ink blotch on her chin, from where she’d rested her quill there to think; he is close enough to trace the elegant line of her collarbone, smell the faint scent of clean linen, lemons, salt. She seems to be emitting a warm, white glow.

They look at each other for a moment, and her eyes are wide, endless, swallowing everything. Then she tilts her head, her lips curving up into a small, bashful smile. She shakes her head: no.

This is not a memory, but it feels like one.

She looks up suddenly, startled.

Draco takes a ragged gasp and shoves Pansy away.

The first time Draco seeks her out at the hospital is a crisp October day, which happens to be the six-month anniversary of her divorce.

“Hello,” says Hermione, glancing up from her paperwork. “Draco. Can I…help you?”

He’s well put together, dropping gracefully into the chair across from her desk without invitation. “Yes. I’m in need of medical attention.”

“I see.” Hermione does not, in fact, see. This is quite unorthodox. There’s a triage procedure and rarely does it result in patients coming to her office. “Tell me more.”

Five times Draco fakes an ailment as an excuse to visit Hermione, and one time he doesn't. D/Hr Advent 2023 🎄

Chapter 17 is by far the longest. I think it's because several of things start to come together, all in one go without actually revealing everything!? I dont know, but its all up in its entirety.

She cried into the arms of Pansy Parkinson, which in itself was odd and somewhat surreal. But she had lashed out and called him horrible and selfish. Had said that she hated him.

But she didn’t. She couldn’t. Because he had said things to her that made her melt, that made her want to wrap herself into something small and infinitesimal and jump into his hand or his pocket or his chest. She wanted to bask inside of his soul, to look at all of the nooks and crannies that made up the complex and hard to understand wizard who had kissed her until she felt like collapsing.
